Duck House, Holmbury, Oil, 18 x 14cm

After graduating from Goldsmiths College, London, with a BA Degree in Fine Art Painting, I spent a long career as a book designer and visualizer for international publisher Dorling Kindersley, and later worked as a book illustrator and an animator in film animation. I returned to my roots in oil painting in 2009.

As an artist living in the Surrey Hills, I am near to the openness of the North Downs with their fine views, and surrounded by beautiful mixed woodland. These landscapes and trees are the main source of my inspiration. I respond to my subjects by simplifying down to the essentials: the colours, pattern and rhythms, to achieve a semi-abstract image.

From 2007 I have participated both individually and collectively in many exhibitions, including: Dorking Group of Artists, Surrey Figurative Artists, Ochre Print Studios, Leith Hill Action Group, The Yehudi Menuhin School of Music, The Pure Arts Group, Bourneside Gallery, Dorking, Adam’s Gallery, Reigate, and Surrey Artists Open Studios.
